The Electoral Commission of Zambia wishes to commend the Zambia Police Service and all political parties that participated in the Lusaka Mayoral election and Council Chairpersons’ elections in Chilanga, Chasefu, Lumezi, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lusangazi, and Chifunabuli as well as Local Government by-elections in North Western, Western, Luapula and Northern provinces for the peaceful manner in which the 26 July polls were conducted.

Notice is hereby given to the general public that the Electoral Commission of Zambia prescribed Thursday 26th July, 2018 as the date on which to hold the Mayoral By-Election in Lusaka, Council Chairperson By-Election in Chilanga , District Council Chairperson’s Elections in Chasefu, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lumezi, Lusangazi and Chifunabuli districts; and six (6) Ward By-Elections across five (5) districts.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia would like to inform all Political Parties and other Stakeholders that, arising from the 2016 General Elections on the issuance of the Announcement of The Results of the Poll Form (Gen 12), the following changes/measures have been taken:

The Election Support Centres were initiated, during the 2016 General Elections and Referendum. Election Support Centres were established at National and Provincial level with the main aim of ensuring that the Commission at Headquarter level is well informed of key activities taking place in the field during any particular election. In turn, as challenges arise, the Commission strives to apply immediate corrective measures in the field to ensure that the elections are conducted according to the laid down procedures.
