Katie Green, New Project Manager for the UNDP Project of Support to the Electoral Cycle in Zambia

Katherine Green has been appointed to serve as Project Manager for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Project Support to the Electoral Cycle in Zambia. Ms. Green, or Katie as she prefers to be called, is from Bristol in the South West of England in the United Kingdom (UK).

Katie who arrived in Zambia on the 16th of September 2017 to assume her role in providing electoral support to the Commission, comes to Zambia after completing her assignment in Jordan where she advised the Jordanian Independent Electoral Commission on parliamentary, provincial and local elections which took place in 2016 and 2017.

Katie has extensive experience in the development of electoral regulations and procedures, electoral dispute resolution, operational planning and institutional development.
In addition to working with UNDP, her previous assignments in elections include work with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in countries such as Kosovo, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan, Iraq, Tunisia and the United States of America (USA).

The new Project Manager says that her first impression of Zambia is that its people are very kind and helpful. Her hobbies include walking outdoors, swimming, reading and gardening.

The UNDP Project Support to the Electoral Cycle in Zambia aims to strengthen the electoral process in Zambia by providing technical support to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and other national stakeholders.

The project Support to the Electoral Cycle in Zambia is managed by UNDP through a basket fund programme supported by the European Union, DFID, Irish Aid and USAID, in addition to UNDP. It aims to support the consolidation of democracy and electoral reforms in Zambia through the provision of technical and funding support to the ECZ and other stakeholders. The project started in February 2016 and will run to the end of December 2018.
