Ballot Papers for By-Elections Ready

The Ballot papers and posters for the by-elections for the Masaiti District, Ipongo and Kasamba wards by-elections arrived in the country on 30th March, 2017 aboard an Emirates passenger plane, Boeing 777-300ER from Dubai. The ballot papers were printed at Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing Company.

Commission staff who witnessed the arrival of the ballot papers is Senior Electoral Officer Mr Zachariah Kunda, Social Media Assistant Brenda Zulu and Electoral Officer Mr Alistair Kaleji.

Verification of the ballot papers for the Masaiti Council Chairperson, Ipongo and Kasamba wards by-elections was conducted at the Commission on 31st March 2017 and was witnessed by political party representative from PF, Director of Youth Mr John Phiri and UPND’s Liaison Officer Mr. Peter Soko.
The Commission assigned four members of staff to witness the printing of ballot papers in Dubai.

The members of staff who travelled to Dubai were Principal Electoral Officer – Policy and Procedures, Mr. Steve Nyondo, Assistant Procurement Officer, Mr. Harry Zambika, Data Entry Supervisor, Mr. Christopher Munachuka and Assistant Electoral Officer, Mr. Alick Chakawa.

The Team left for Dubai on Saturday 25th March 2017 and returned home on the 31st March, 2017.
The candidates for the Council Chairperson in Masaiti are Christine Chande from PF and Ennie Matutu from UPND.

Candidates for the position of Councilor in Nchelenge District Kasamba ward are Nsakasha Bwalya from UPND and Aaron Tende from the PF.

Candidates for Chibombo District in Ipongo ward are Evans Kateya from the PF and Masauso Mtamira from the UPND.
