SUSPENSION OF CONTINUOUS REGISTRATION OF VOTERS – CHIPATA AND MUMBWA DISTRICTS

The Electoral Commission of Zambia wishes to inform members of the public of the suspension of Continuous Registration of Voters (CRV) in Chipata and Mumbwa districts with immediate effect.

The suspension is due to pending by-elections for Dilika Ward of Chipata District and Kalwanyembe Ward of Mumbwa District.

The suspension is in line with the provisions of Section 12 (2) of the Electoral Process Act No. 35 of 2016 which states that “The Commission shall, where it prescribes the polling day for a by-election, immediately suspend the registration of voters in the district in which the by-election is to take place until the by-election is concluded.”

During this period, the voter registration centres will be closed and will reopen on Monday, 25th November 2024.
