ECZ thanks the Commonwealth

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has expressed gratitude to the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, United Kingdom for appointing Professor Ibrahim Gambari of Nigeria as a Special Adviser on Political Dialogue to the ECZ in July 2016, to support the Commission ahead of the country’s General Elections and Referendum, which took place on 11th August, 2016.
Chairperson, Honourable Mr. Justice Esau Chulu, and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mrs. Priscilla Isaac, made a courtesy call on the Commonwealth Secretariat in London on 14th November, 2016, to express gratitude for appointing Professor Gambari.
In an interview, Justice Chulu pointed out that Professor Gambari was helpful during his visits to Zambiaduring te elections.
Professor Gambari’s appointment was made in consultation with the Commission to enhance trust and promote a conducive and peaceful environment for the polls.
Professor Gambari consulted widely and worked with the Commission and other stakeholders to deepen the Commonwealth contribution towards the Zambian elections.
