Mr. James Mwaba Junior is joined the Commission in 2020 as Stores Controller and subsequently got elevated to the position of Head of Procurement. Prior to joining the Commission he had worked for Mopani Copper Mines as Procurement and Supply Chain Manager, one of the biggest copper mines in the world. Other blue chip organizations he has worked for include; the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), Central Bank of Zambia (BoZ), British American Tobacco (BAT), Rothmans of Pall Mall (RPM), Tobacco Association of Zambia (TAZ) and Kariba North Bank Power Company now part of ZESCO Limited.
Mr. James Mwaba is a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS), he is also the Institute past vice president after serving two terms. Prior to assuming this role he had also served as vice president for CIPS Zambia. He has contributed immensely to the growth of the profession both in Zambia and the region.
Mr. Mwaba has presented several conference papers on various topics in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Lean Management, Project Management and Business Process Re-engineering.
During his career, he has attended several specialized training programs in the area of Advanced Procurement of Works and Selection of Consultants, Advanced Equipment Procurement, Public Private Partnership (PPPs) and Fraud Detection in Public Procurement process under the auspices Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA).
In the year 2000, while working for British American Tobacco (BAT), he was co-opted to be part of the Project Team of Experts on Change Management from Southern region by then group Chairman of BAT, Sir Martin Broughton who happens to the current British Airways Chairman to reorganize and transition Rothmans of Pall Mall in to the current British American Tobacco (BAT Zambia).
