Ambassador Ali D. Simwinga holds qualifications in Urban Economic Development from Galilee College, Israel, and Law Degree from the University of Zambia. Ambassador Simwinga was an advocate of the superior courts of Zambia and was an associate member of the Institute of Local Government Administration of Zambia (ILGAZ). He also served as a member of the Willa Mung’omba Constitutional Review Commission and the National Constitutional Conference.

During his illustrious legal career, Ambassodor Simwinga has worked in various positions within the public sector, including as Town Clerk for Lusaka City Council and later Kitwe City Council. He was appointed to serve as Ambassador to Egypt, where he was also accredited to the Republic of Algeria, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia and the State of Palestine from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, he was appointed as a member of the Electoral Commission of Zambia
