ECZ CONDUCTS STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS ON CRV IN 10 DISTRICTS

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) held Stakeholder Engagement Meetings on 31st May, 2022 with various stakeholders in 10 districts (Chinsali, Chipata, Choma, Kabwe, Kasama, Lusaka, Mansa, Mongu, Ndola and Solwezi) ahead of the launch of Continuous Registration of Voters (CRV) which begins on Wednesday 1st June, 2022 in respective districts.

The Commission updated stakeholders who included traditional leaders, political parties, Civil Society Organisations, the media and representatives of various government agencies on the conduct of Continuous Voter Registration. The Commission further took time to respond to questions and received recommendations from the participants.

Registration of voters is the process where eligible citizens make application to be included on the register of voters for the purpose of voting in an election. Section seven (7) of the Electoral Process Act No. 35 of 2016 mandates the Commission to conduct Continuous Voter Registration.

A citizen who has attained the age of eighteen years is eligible to register as a voter and vote in an election by secret ballot.
