TACTILE BALLOT JACKETS AVAILABLE IN THE 2021 GENERAL ELECTION

Visually impaired voters who are braille literate will be able to vote with tactile ballot jackets in the 2021 General Election.

A tactile ballot jacket is a folder with braille markings into which a voter places a ballot paper to read the choices available in an election.

The Commission has used tactile ballot jackets in elections as a measure to support voters who are visually impaired to exercise their right to vote.

In addition to the braille jacket, the Commission also provides assistance to vote for the visually impaired who are not braile literate, persons with other disabilities, the aged, pregnant women, and generally voters who are not able to read and write. A voter can seek the assistance of the Presiding officer to cast his/her ballot.
