Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta Visits ECZ

Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta Chairperson of the House of the Chiefs on Thursday 6th December, 2018 paid a courtesy call on Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson Hon. Mr. Justice Esau Chulu at the ECZ Headquarters in Lusaka.

After the meeting where the two dicussed matters of mutual benefit, the ECZ Chairperson presented his Royal Highness with the ECZ Strategic Plan 2018 to 2022 and various Voter Education materials.

On Thursday 29th November, 2018 Vice Chairperson of the House of Chiefs, Chieftainess Mwenda was guest of honour at the launch of the Electoral Commission of Zambia 2018-2022 Strategic Plan in a show of greater cooperation between the House of Chiefs and the ECZ.

In her speech, her Royal Highness encouraged a unified support system of Zambians and a people that are proud of their culture, their country and their national institutions, including the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

“Let us always, first, consider the observations of internal structures rather than allow for external communities to destabilise and weaken our electoral environment,” said her Royal Highness.

The ECZ Strategic Plan is anchored on the following objectives;

a) Enhancing eficiency in the management of elections, therefore ensuring that the Commission delivers high quality and inclusive electoral services to our Zambian people (whether women, youth, persons with disabilities);

b) Enhancing stakeholder engagement and participation in the electoral process, therefore undertaking continuous engagement and sensitisation programmes;

c)Building the confidence and trust of various stakeholders in the electoral process by augmenting the Commission’s corporate image; and

d) Continuously improving the skills of staff, the governance and management structures in view of ensuring a Commission that has the requisite competencies to implement the electoral process and responds to the needs of the electorate.
