Elections & IT Departments Conduct Post-Election Review Meeting in Kasama

The Electoral Commission of Zambia is conducting the 2016 Post Election reviews. The Elections and IT departments are currently conducting the Meeting for the Northern region at Wamulume Lodge in Kasama District with the support of the UNDP with funding from EU, UKAid, Irish Aid and USAID.
The Meeting has attracted the participation of the Provincial Electoral Officers (PEOs), District Electoral Officers (DEOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Returning Officers, the Kasama District Police Command and Technical Support Officers . Participants are representing districts from Northern, Luapula and Muchinga Provinces.
The Review Meeting is meant to inform the Commission on aspects of the 2016 elections which were managed by the field Staff in the districts.
Among some of the workshop outcomes will include;
1. Recommendations for improvement in the operations of the Commission as it prepares for the 2021 General Elections;
2. Areas of improvement in Field Staff and learn some of the critical challenges they faced in conducting the elections;
3. Share experiences and enhance best practices among Field Staff and the Commission.
Further reviews are expected in other Provinces.
The review is facilitated by electoral experts Mr. Mwenda Mumbuna and Mr. Paul Anderson.
