Council Chairperson Elections to be held on 17th November 2016 in Mwandi, Mushindamo, Senga Hill and Kalumbila Districts

The Commission is currently engaged in preparations for the 2016 by-elections for Council Chairpersons to be held on 17th November 2016. The Districts to carry out elections are;
  1. Mwandi District in Mwandi Constituency, Western Province.
  2. Mushindamo District, Solwezi East Constituency, North Western Province.
  3. Senga Hill District in Senga Hill Constituency in Northern Province.
  4. Kalumbila District, Solwezi West Constituency, North Western Province.
The elections did not take place on 11th August, 2016 in the above mentioned Districts because the Districts are new and were created after major preparations for the 11th August 2016 elections had been put in place.
The Commission is carrying out several stakeholder engagements in these locations such as;
  1. Meeting traditional leaders to discuss the electoral process.
  2. Undertaking a Youth Conference on youth involvement in the electoral process.
  3. Candidates platforms to engage the electorate and share their agenda.
  4. Workshops for Voter Education Facilitators on Conflict Management.
These activities are currently underway.
