Nominations

The 2011 Presidential, National Assembly and Local Government Elections shall take place on Tuesday 20th September 2011 between 06:00hours and 18:00hours.

NOMINATIONS

Following the announcement by the Republican President, His Excellency Mr. Rupiah Bwezani Banda of the date for the Presidential, National Assembly and Local Government Elections, the Electoral Commission of Zambia has prescribed dates within which nominations for Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government elections will be held.

Presidential Nominations

Sunday 7th August to Friday 12th August 2011 between 09:00hrs and 16:00hrs on all the stated dates.

Presidential aspiring candidates should lodge completed and the attested statutory declaration, oath/affirmation of Zambian citizenship and Nomination papers subscribed before the Chief Justice who is the Returning Officer for the Presidential election from Sunday 7th August to Friday 12th August 2011 between 09:00hrs to 16:00hrs at the Supreme Court of Zambia. Aspiring candidates should take along with them two hundred (200) supporters who must be registered voters in any constituency in Zambia.

Aspiring candidates will be required to pay Ten Million Kwacha (K10,000,000.00) non- refundable nomination fee. Each aspiring candidate may have not more than two (2) Election Agents per constituency for the Presidential Election.

Each aspiring Presidential Election candidate should have not more than two (2) Election agents per constituency.

National Assembly Nominations

Friday, 12th August, between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs

Parliamentary aspiring candidates should lodge completed and attested statutory declaration and nomination papers subscribed before a Magistrate, Local Court Magistrate, head of a government Primary school, Head of a government Secondary school, Principal of a government college, Commissioner of Oaths, Electoral Officer or Returning Officer on Friday 12th August, 2011 between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs at the Constituency nomination centres.

Aspiring candidates should take along with them (9) supporters who must be registered voters in the affected constituencies. The supporters must have in their possession, their Green National Registration card and Voters’ cards.

Aspiring candidates will be required to pay Five Hundred Thousand Kwacha (K500,000.00) non-refundable nomination fee.

Local Government Elections

Friday, 12th August 2011

Local Government aspiring candidates should lodge completed and attested statutory declaration and Nomination papers subscribed before a Magistrate, Local Court Magistrate, Head of a government primary school, Head of a government secondary school, Principal of a college, Commissioner of oaths, Electoral Officer or Returning officer on Friday 12th August 2011 between 09:00hrs and 16:00hrs at the Ward Nomination Centres.

Aspiring candidates should take along with them nine (9) supporters who must be registered voters in the affected wards. The supporters must have in their possession, the Green National Registration cards and Voters Cards.

Aspiring candidates will be required to pay One hundred thousand Kwacha (K100, 000.00), Seventy five thousand Kwacha (K75,000.00) and fifty thousand Kwacha (K50,000.00) non refundable nomination fee for City, Municipal, and District Councils respectively.
